How To Cut A Girl’s Hair – Trimming

Hair- You don’t always have to pay for an expensive haircut. Cutting a girl’s hair can be done with a few basic tips, guidelines, and a pair of proper scissors. Of course, pulling off a quality cut takes some skill, but if you’re up to the challenge, try giving a cut or a cut to a damsel in need.

Start With Washed Hair.

When cutting, the ha ir should be clean and damp. After washing, towel dry hair to remove excess water, then comb out any knots.

Comb from the ends and work your way to the root to untangle knots. This prevents damage to the hair and puts less strain on the scalp.

Always use a comb to detangle. Do not use a brush.

Sit In The Right Lighting.

For a quality ha ircut, you need to be in a well-lit area. The girl getting the haircut needs to be seated straight, preferably in a chair high enough so that the stylist doesn’t have to bend down.

Comb Hair.

The hair should first be combed straight back and then parted where it normally is. If the hair is wear n with a center parting, do so. If the hair has a side parting on the left or right side, do that. Hair will usually fall where it’s trained.

Look behind the ears for knotted or bonded ha ir. All ha ir needs to be combed straight down for a proper cut.

Use Sharp Scissors.

The ideal pair of scissors would be stylist scissors designed specifically for haircuts. Dull scissors will not cut hair cleanly and can result in split ends. Also, dull scissors will bend or press the hair down before cutting, resulting in an uneven-looking hairline

Start Cutting At The Center Back.

This will guide you as you move to the sides and forward. You will use the back piece as a reference as you cut around the sides to keep the facing even.

Pull up the back section of hair and pass the ends through your index and middle fingers. They should stick out about 1/2 inch to 2 inches from your fingers. cut across. For a softer look, you can cut right into the hair by holding the scissors at a 45-degree angle.

The amount of hair you trim will depend on how far the damage extends, but typically it’s around 1/2 inch to 2 inches. Start by trimming less, then go back to trimming more if you like.

Have the person lean their head slightly forward as you cut the back to help you make a more even cut.

Cut Off The Sides.

Work your way from your guide part to the side. When cutting the ha ir on the shoulder, have the person tilt their head slightly to the opposite side. This will bring the hair up so you can trim more evenly.

Cut THE OPPOSITE SIDE.

Once you’ve got it down the front of one side, go back to your guide piece on the back and start cutting the opposite side. Have the person lean their head on the opposite side you’re cutting, making sure to reference the guide piece the whole time.

Check The Length On Both Sides.

When you finish , come forward and grasp the ha ir from both sides between your fingers. Pull them down and flat and see if they are the same length. If a side or piece is longer, go ahead and trim accordingly.

If you’re wounding their ha ir in front of a mirror, it’s easier to check for evenness by standing behind the person and looking at their reflection.

Finish The Cut With A Blow Dryer.

Keep in mind that the hair will get a little shorter as it dries. If you notice uneven patches after the hair is dry, wet the area and smooth it out with scissors.
